Company Profile
Forde Biological Consultants (FBC) is a California General Partnership located in Camarillo, California. We are a certified small business by the California Department of General Services and a certified woman and minority owned business by the California Public Utilities Commission. We offer biological services to clients throughout the southwest United States including California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. Since 2005, we have served both private and public sector clients and, because we are a small business, we are very responsive to clients’ needs. We provide simple, cost-effective solutions to address the biological issues of developing real property; from the surveying and reporting requirements of development permits, to the remediation and restoration requirements of compliance orders. In addition to biological reporting, surveying, and planning, FBC also performs biological monitoring of residential and infrastructure projects. We work closely with project proponents to ensure protection of natural resources, compliance with regulations, and adherence to project conditions. Reputation is everything; we strive to be the best.

Flora
FBC botanists are highly skilled professionals with a vast understanding of the southwestern United States plant-life. They are well-practiced in plant identification, have a sound understanding of plant community classification systems, and use the latest technologies to map vegetation. Because of their excellent quality of work, our botanists have acquired a solid reputation with regulatory agencies. The California Department of Fish and Game has issued several permits to FBC botanists, authorizing them to collect voucher specimens of State-listed, endangered, threatened, and rare plants. Using the Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual and the Arid West Regional Supplement, our botanists delineate streams and wetlands and prepare reports, Section 404 and 401 applications, and Section 1600 Streambed Alteration Agreements.

The Scientific Collectors Permit also authorizes surveys for desert tortoise, California red-legged frog, arroyo toad, Sierra Madre yellow-legged frog, and burrowing owl, with conditional authorization to handle them. FBC conducts surveys and habitat assessments for special-status bats and has participated in research projects with the United States Geological Service, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and California Department of Fish and Game.
